Merry Christmas! Happy Birthday Daddy!

I hope everyone has a very happy Christmas. I also want to wish my Dad a very happy birthday. I can't wait to see you in a few days!

This year is especially exciting for us as it is Aidan's first Christmas. Aidan didn't know what was going on, but this morning was a lot of fun for Kevin and I! Aidan woke up at his usual time of 5:30 a.m. which is brutal normally but seems especially painful when Kevin and I are on vacation from work. He ate and was so happy as he always is and ready to play. Due to the high cost in airfares and the various family commitments we have, we decided that we would stay home for Christmas Eve and Christmas and then attend the Duggan Family gathering on Friday 12/26 and then on Saturday 12/27 I am flying with Aidan to visit my family in Atlanta. I wish Kevin could come, but we could not find a dog sitter or an affordable fare and things just weren't working out this year so I'm going solo. I return to VT on New Years Eve so Kevin and I will ring in 2009 together!

Anyway, back to this morning. We didn't really get Aidan any gifts because he doesn't know the difference anyway. We figured we should enjoy the last "gift free" Christmas we're able to have for probably a long time. We may be able to get away with it next year as well, I guess it depends on how much he learns about who Santa is and what happens on Christmas. Although thanks to Nana Caz, Aidan did have a few presents under the tree which he "opened" and we got the obligatory first Christmas photos of Aidan eating the wrapping paper. It was pretty darn cute! Thank you Nana Caz for his wonderful cozy pajamas, he desperately needs PJ's since he is growing at an alarming rate. Yesterday I dressed him in an outfit sized for a 12 month old. I think either this particular brand of clothing runs small or Aidan is a gigantic baby. Perhaps a little of both...

Meet Tux the penguin, Bewdley the clown, and Spot the Dog. I know you are saying "Spot? Really?" It was 6 a.m. people, so these are the best names we could come up with. Bewdley is my personal favorite because it is the name of the town I lived in England and this beautiful clown was knit by a lovely British woman so Kevin thought it fit!

In addition to a relaxing Christmas at home with just our cozy little family we have lots and lots of SNOW! We got over 2 feet last weekend alone, another foot this past week and we woke up this Christmas day to a beautiful snowy morning. It is snowing right now but I'm not going out in the cold to take photos so here are a few I took bright and early yesterday morning, enjoy!

Our back deck disappeared!
The backyard
The giant bush next to the barn collapsed under the weight of the snow
Layers of snow on the barn roof. After I took this Kevin got out his roof rake and raked the snow of the roof of the barn and the house. It's just one of the many winter chores we have in Vermont!

I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season and a healthy and happy new year!

XOXO,
Angela
