Monday, Monday...

It is chilly and rainy here in Vermont and if I had a million dollars I would give it away to be home in bed right now with the covers pulled around my neck, watching some cheesy daytime talk show with my eyes half closed and dozing off to sleep. It's that kind of Monday! Instead, I've hit the ground running (figuratively of course because at this point I physically cannot run) at work and we're headed into another crazy, busy week.

I've reached the 32 week marker in this pregnancy and Kevin has taken to calling me "Sybil" due to my erratic mood swings and what he is calling my multiple personalities. He's joking of course, but the mood swings are no joke and I have caught myself losing my cool and acting irrationally lately but I just can't seem to shake it. Nothing serious, just stupid tantrums like breaking down and sobbing because we ran out of orange juice or freaking out because Kevin asked me to go upstairs and get him a t-shirt when he was working in the yard and getting sunburned, but the thought of climbing the stairs was just too much to handle. OK so I am completely losing my mind, and I want this to be over. I'm not sure if I can last 8 more weeks! Also, my bladder has been completely flattened due to the load of this baby resting on it and I am not joking when I say I am having to go to the bathroom every ten minutes. If I have a sip of water, forget it I'm in the bathroom right away, I think just thinking about having a sip of water is sending me to the bathroom now...

Luckily I am not having too many physical ailments and I am actually feeling fairly good, just completely exhausted. Kevin and I had a great weekend and we got so much done around the house and in the garden it was wonderful! Saturday we had perfect weather, blue skies and sunshine and we took advantage of the day. We worked hard all morning weeding and prepping the flower beds and in the afternoon we went to the nursery to get the rest of our vegetables. We made a stop at the Waterbury Reservoir which I'll tell you about in a minute, and once back at home we got all our vegetables planted. We now have cherry tomatoes, Stupina and Rutgers tomatoes, peas, sweet peppers, onions, eggplants, yellow squash, Buttercup squash, zucchinis, finger lake cucumbers and Market 76 cucumbers, 2 kinds of lettuce, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, rosemary, cilantro, basil, chives, and I think that is it. We wanted to plant some pumpkins and more types of squash but we ran out of room. I am going to plant the rest of my herbs in pots since the garden is officially full! Once the rain stops I'll take some pictures so we can watch it all grow!

Saturday night Kevin and I got yummy takeout and watched our favorite shows on Tivo, a good low-key night after a day of physical activity! Yesterday was supposed to be a wash out with rain all day but we were pleasantly surprised when we woke up to sunshine and blue skies. For once I was glad the weatherman was wrong! The skies clouded up in the afternoon, but the rain held out until evening so we got a bonus day in the garden and we worked outside all day. I am so stiff and sore but it was worth it to get most of the flower beds finished and I filled in lots of holes by planting annuals from the nursery. I'll take some pictures when the rain stops, but anyone who has seen our garden knows it is a lot of work to upkeep and while we were out there yesterday Kevin and I kept saying "how will we ever get all this done when we have a child?" It will be interesting for sure, because by 7 p.m. last night we were both so exhausted we ate dinner and then passed out!

So I mentioned we stopped by the Waterbury Reservoir (above) on Saturday and it was Lily's lucky day! The Reservoir is the ninth largest body of water in the state of Vermont and was created in the 1930's as a flood control project to protect towns and villages along the Winooski River Valley. The reservoir is huge and popular among boaters and fisherman.

The state park where we visited, is located on a 90-acre peninsula with 22 picnic sites, tables, hibachis, a swimming beach, nature trail, trailer boat ramp, boat rentals, concession area and restrooms. Last year was the first year this was opened and Kevin and I never took advantage of it because they didn't allow dogs and we live on the river so we either swam there or frequented the numerous swimming holes and waterfalls around Waterbury. Well this year it will be hard to hike the steep trails to the waterfalls with a newborn, so we plan on utilizing the reservoir park and beach much more. Although they don't allow dogs during the day, the morning and evening hours are dog friendly and until it opens on Memorial Day, the beach is doggy paradise, hence Lily's lucky day. We took her Saturday and she had so much fun swimming and playing with all the other dogs, that I had to take her back yesterday. She is so smart, the second I turned onto Reservoir Road she was going bananas, hanging her head out the window in excitement and practically shaking with anticipation! I took some photos, and while it was cloudy, you can imagine how beautiful a spot this will be all summer long. Hopefully, we'll get to spend a few lazy afternoons sunning ourselves on the "beach!"

Isn't Lily just the cutest when she swims? She is a champion swimmer and loves the water so much. So this week I'll have the 32 week update, tomorrow I have my next Doctor's appointment so I'll post updates and Wednesday is movie night at child birth class, I can't wait!
