...and the heat goes back on!

Well maybe it was a little pre-mature that we turned our heat off, but after all it is "Spring" and the temperature did start to warm up. True Vermonters are pessimistic people and when we had that beautiful stretch of Miami-esqe sunshine and high temps, those Vermonters grumbled saying "it won't last, it's too good to be true." Well I guess they were right because we ended up turning the heat back on last night as the temperatures dipped down into the high twenties. The mountains even got snow, and as we drove to work today we couldn't help but admire the beauty of the fresh snow draped over Camel's Hump and hate it at the same time. Hopefully the warmth will return soon, but for now I'm glad Kevin and I are procrastinators and still have yet to put away our winter clothes.

Despite the cold snap, I am starting to feel a lot better and my cough is still rattling my chest, but it has gotten more productive and I'm feeling stronger...I'm on the mend! Kevin also feels a little better so hopefully by the weekend we'll be getting back to normal.

I'm halfway through my 29th week of the pregnancy and I am really looking forward to starting the 30's, or the home stretch! I still feel good and I know the baby is growing, but I don't feel like I'm getting that much bigger right now, so it's kind of a nice break. I am starting to notice a foot jutting out of my stomach at night when the baby kicks hard. There are no words to describe how freaky that is, but I will try to capture it with the camera when we can see the full outline. For now, here is the 29 week update, enjoy!

How your baby's growing: Your baby is growing rapidly now. This week he weighs about 2 1/2 pounds (like a butternut squash) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. His muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and his head is getting bigger to accommodate his growing brain — which is busy developing billions of neurons. To meet his increasing nutritional demands, you'll need plenty of protein, vitamins C, folic acid, and iron. And because his bones are soaking up lots of calcium, be sure to drink your milk (or find another good source of calcium, such as cheese, yogurt, or enriched orange juice). Every day, about 200 milligrams of calcium is deposited in your baby's skeleton, which is now hardening. With this rapid growth, it's no surprise that your baby's nutritional needs reach their peak during this trimester.
