Rainy Monday today

Wow, look at that forecast! I don't have to tell you it's a rainy day here in Vermont. I don't really mind the rain this week because the gardens need it and it will turn everything lush and green. Today, I'm kind of enjoying the dreariness because I still feel pretty awful and not at all sunny myself. I've had a terrible cough for a week now and this past weekend I seemed to be getting worse so we decided not to travel to Connecticut, but stay home and rest instead. Unfortunately, Kevin has caught the cold I originally had, so we were pretty pathetic all weekend, lounging around and getting some quality couch time in.

Saturday we did manage to get out in the garden for a short time and attempt some Spring cleaning. I only lasted an hour before exhaustion set in and I had to go inside, shower off the pollen and sleep for the rest of the afternoon. Kevin did get a lot of weeding done which was great. I think my hour in the garden was even too much, because yesterday I woke up feeling just terrible and I was having trouble breathing and was even too tired to cough. I placed a call to my Dr.'s answering service just to ask what more I could do and she called me right back and convinced me to go to the hospital to get checked out which we did. There's not a lot worse than being pregnant and feeling sick and miserable, trust me! I was so exhausted from all the coughing that my lungs and ribs ached and still do. Luckily I don't have pneumonia, which is why my Dr. wanted me to come in. Apparently being pregnant weakens your immune system and the Dr. said they do see a lot of pregnant women get pneumonia, especially after a long winter and cold & flu season like we've had. I do have acute bronchitis though, which left untreated can lead to pneumonia so I am very glad I went to get checked when I did. Because it is viral, there are no antibiotics they can give me that will do a darn thing, so this is something I have to wait out and get plenty of rest and fluids. I was given albuterol in the form of an inhaler which has been helping to open my airways and make my cough more productive. The inhaler is helping already and I'm laying low this week until I feel better. Luckily this rainy week is going to make that easy! The Dr. did say that there's no need to worry about Baby Duggan, he's well protected and unfazed. In fact, he's moving more than ever now, so I am taking that to be a good sign that he's healthy and happy!

Yesterday afternoon when we returned from the hospital, the sun came out and the afternoon was beautiful. We sat on the back deck for a while soaking it up and I took this great photo of Kevin and Lily. Check out Lily's big smile!
Ha ha, I thought this picture was even better! Between his blowing his nose and my coughing, we are a scary sight right now!

I'll have a 29th week pregnancy update later this week...stay tuned.
