Everyday is an adventure

Wow, this week has been quite a turning point. Monday and Tuesday were not good days for Aidan! He cried and cried all day. He barely slept both nights except for short spurts of a few hours and even during his sleepy time he made noises and grunted so I barely slept because I kept thinking he was awake. By Tuesday evening after I had dealt with a fussy baby all day and cooked an amazing b'day dinner for Kevin, I was exhausted! There were a few times in the middle of the night when I finally understood why they keep telling you before you leave the hospital to "Never shake a baby!" I get that now. Not that I would ever, ever harm my little prince, but there comes a point where you just think I cannot do this anymore...and then it gets better!!!

Aidan turned a corner this week and by Wednesday afternoon I was wondering where my fussy baby was! Aidan was smiling all day, he ate and would stay full for a few hours instead of rooting around for food about 5 minutes after I fed him, he wasn't screaming or crying, and he was just happy. Aidan even slept for 7 hours Wednesday night and 6 hours last night! I am not holding my breath because I know tomorrow could be difficult, but I really think that as we reach the end of 6 weeks, Aidan and I are getting our groove on.

Yesterday we had a great day and met my friend Tracey and her 5 month old son Max in Stowe for a walk. We had a great time and walked about 4.5 miles chatting away as Aidan slept. He woke up right as we finished and I had to feed him in the car but it was no big deal and then he went back to sleep as I ran errands. I felt so good for the rest of the day and I am excited to start exercising more and more. Today I have my 6 week check up with my doctor and I feel almost 100% back to normal so I am excited to see her and get the all clear.

Kevin and I have plans this weekend to meet up with friends and enjoy the last few days of summer weather before the leaves turn and the frost starts creeping in.

We're really starting to establish a routine with Aidan and he even fell asleep by himself in his crib for his morning nap today! This was very exciting as we've been trying to get him to learn how to soothe himself to sleep and it looks like he's learning.

I'm off to enjoy a shower while he sleeps, have a great weekend!
