Weekend in CT!

We had a short but great weekend in Connecticut catching up with friends and family. We drove down Friday morning and of course we left about an hour later than we planned but this time it wasn't due to Aidan. I had a "closet crisis" trying to figure out what to wear all weekend! When I'm at home with Aidan my cozy sweat pants are wonderful but I didn't think they would be appropriate for the surprise party we were all throwing for Mary's 70th! I have lost 40 lbs. since Aidan was born which is pretty amazing since it's only been 5 weeks, but since I lost all control at the end of the pregnancy and devoured Ben & Jerry's every night as if it were my job, I still have about 20 pounds to lose and my maternity clothes are now way to big, my old clothes are still too small and I have nothing to wear! As you can imagine it is quite frustrating but not having anything to wear is also a great motivator to exercise and lose weight!

So anyway, I finally pieced together a few outfits that weren't my cozy sweatpants and we hit the road for our 4+ hour drive. Aidan was the dream baby and slept the first three hours no problem. He started to stir with an hour to go so we pulled off in a rest area and changed and fed him and he went right back to sleep. We did hit a little traffic merging onto I-95 (big surprise!) and he had a good cry but once we were moving again he was asleep in no time.

The party was a wonderful time and Mary was surprised and overjoyed! As she rounded the corner into Michael's backyard we all sang Happy Birthday and the water works started! It was great.

I had a great time at the party and unless I was feeding Aidan I barely saw him. He was a big hit and everyone took turns holding the little guy. He had his usual nightly crying session about 9 p.m. but otherwise he was fantastic all evening!

Aidan met his Aunt Monicaand snuggled with NanaA great shot of three generations of DuggansAidan met his cousins Connor and Will
Aidan met his Uncle MichaelAnd we all enjoyed the Irish music from this duo out of NYC
Family friend Lori got some practice holding a baby. Congrats to Lori & Maria! Maria is due in February and I hope I didn't scare her too much with tales of my sleepless nights! Aidan slept 7 hours straight last night so you will sleep again, don't worry!

I could not believe how much Kevin's god daughter Charlotte had grown. She is adorable!
Will takes a turn holding his cousin Aidan, so cute. Check out Aidan's big feet!
Happy Birthday to Mary!
Mel, the coolest sister in law you could ever haveSean was excited to hold his cousin Aidan and said to his mom Janice, "I really like him!" What an adorable moment that was!

Alex, the oldest cousin meets Aidan the youngest!
We had a great time with the family and it was nice to meet all of Mary & Bills friends. On Saturday the whole family set sail on a cruise to Bermuda which unfortunately Kevin, Aidan and I could not go on because Aidan is too young. We are so bummed we had to miss the trip, me especially because I have been on one cruise in my life and I LOVED it!! I hope they are all having a wonderful time and I can't wait to hear stories and see pics.

On Saturday we enjoyed Janice and Michael's absolutely gorgeous house and had a poolside BBQ! We had a few local CT friends over to meet Aidan and have some lunch. Our friend Dennis holds Aidan

It was a great day and and a fun hang Aidan loved Jessica and snuggled on her for hours Our friend Dan and his adorable son Morgan I guess Aidan was exhausted from his big party debut the night before because he slept most of the day! Unfortunately though he was up most of the night. He got his time table mixed up I think so Saturday was a rough night but once he fell asleep about 2 a.m. he slept until almost 7 so it wasn't that bad!

We got home yesterday after a fun pit stop at Target to get baby supplies and it was great to be home and see Lily who had a dog sitter all weekend. Now we know Aidan is a great traveler we can't wait for our next adventure!
