Are you sure we don't live in Seattle?

July was the wettest month on record in Vermont and so far the way we're going August could top that record! It has rained everyday for the last week, and not just sprinkles either, sheets of rain, rain coming down sideways, flood watches and warnings, etc. Our broccoli, cauliflower, lettuces, and brussels sprouts are totally rotted and waterlogged. Surprisingly, since we've barely had any sun, our tomatoes are thriving, and our squash and zucchini are growing huge, but everything else is suffering including us. Kevin and I have some serious cabin fever. We were hoping to get out for a walk last night but it was pouring, same thing for today. At least the flowers are thriving. Here during a brief glimpse of sun this week you can barely see our house from the drive...everything is growing so tall!Have you ever seen grass this green?

Most of the time I would love a rainy Sunday, but after 10+ days in the house with a newborn...I am ready to be outside! I think we're going to take a drive, we have no place particular to go, but we both need to get out and Aidan loves the car so it may help ease the frustration with this terrible weather! If we lived anywhere else maybe we could go and walk around a mall, but since we're in VT with no malls and no Targets...a drive in the country will have to do!

Yesterday we gave Aidan his first real bath. Kevin got the bath ready... His cord stump had fallen off and even though a tiny bit remained, we got the OK from our Dr. to bath him. Shortly after his bath the rest of his cord stump fell off too! Aidan did great during the bathhe didn't cry at all until we started to clean his neck and face.
Although after the bath, he cried quite a bit until he was wrapped in his towel and dry Overall it was a good experience and I think he is just such a wonderful baby, we are so very lucky! Here's a video we made, click HERE to watch!

Ok, so we're off to drive to nowhere to get off the couch and out of the house for a while. Hopefully the rain will stop soon, enjoy the rest of the weekend, we'll have more updates from rainy Vermont coming soon!

Love,
Kevin, Angela, Aidan & Lily
