25 days left! Yesterday we went to the hospital for the ultrasound to measure the baby since my Dr. was concerned that I am measuring bigger than I should be. Although they stressed that the tests are not always accurate, it seems that Baby Duggan is currently 6.5 pounds and with 3 1/2 weeks to go, they predict he will be between 8.5 and 9 pounds when he's born! That's a good size baby, and they said he is above average, but not in the "alarmingly large" range. Phew...it was good to hear that, but I just hope the results are somewhat accurate. The baby is head down and hunched over so it was hard to get measurements of his stomach, but we did get to see something very exciting on his head:
BABY DUGGAN HAS HAIR!
It was very cool to see the little fuzz on his head and left us wondering what color it will be. I'm not posting the ultrasound pictures because they don't really look like anything. Baby Duggan is so big, they could only snap a pic of his leg or his arm and not the whole baby, so the pictures are kind of freaky. The good news is he's healthy, has a strong heartbeat, is active and hopefully he is ready to come out and meet his parents!
I have decided that the Dr. telling me he thinks I will go early was cruel, and got my hopes up! I have accepted that I probably won't, I'll go to term and I'm OK with that. My last day of work is July 11 and I'm just going to prepare to go until my due date, maybe even past it, and if I do have the baby early it will be a nice surprise. We decided not to check my dilation again yesterday because I didn't want to endure the discomfort, so we may do it next week, we're going to wait and see.
For now Kevin and I are enjoying every second of our freedom and I plan on sleeping as much as possible between now and when the baby arrives!
