26 days and counting...

The week is halfway over and I could not be happier. I am exhausted today and fighting the urge to just lay my head on my desk and pass out. I wonder how long people would let me sleep?

I can't complain too much because I'm leaving at 3:30 today to go to the Dr. for an ultrasound and follow up appointment, so I'm excited! Today is the day they measure Baby Duggan to predict how big he'll be. I hope they get it right, but I have to say I am not holding my breath because my friend Courtney just had a beautiful baby boy named Charlie on Monday and he weighed 10 lbs and 4 oz. Isn't he beautiful! Well they told her she would have a small baby between 6-7 lbs. so you can imagine her surprise when this big boy came out! Congratulations Courtney & Jeff! I can't wait to see more pictures.

I am nervous because they have already told me I will be having a large baby, but what if he is HUGE? I just googled the "world's largest baby" but the pictures freaked me out too much so I can't even continue the search!

As long as the baby is not as gigantic as my ankle was this morning we should be OK...Can you believe this thing? Ugh, I feel so gross. I am going to get a pedicure after the Dr.'s today and I can't wait until the ladies get a load of these ankles. They are going to be talking about me in Vietnamese and laughing, I just know it. I don't even care though because I have given up trying to reach my feet anymore and they need some love right now! The swelling has moved into my knees which are now puffy, balloon-like versions of what they used to be, so I'm glad I am visiting the Dr. today. I want him to reassure me that this does happen and my legs will return to normal someday...I hope!

Tonight Kevin and I have our last class, a 2.5 hour introduction to breastfeeding! As you can imagine, Kevin is kind of wondering why he needs to be there, but they told me to bring him so I guess we'll find out! I'll report back tomorrow about the class and the Dr.'s appointment. On a side note, if anyone has tried to call me and I never answer, my phone is broken. It suddenly decided to stop ringing which makes it difficult to know when anyone calls. A replacement has been ordered and I should be back in business by tomorrow.

I'll leave you with the 36 week update, enjoy!

How your baby's growing:
Your baby is still packing on the pounds — at the rate of about an ounce a day. He now weighs almost 6 pounds (like a crenshaw melon) and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. He's shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered his body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected his skin during his nine-month amniotic bath. Your baby swallows both of these substances, along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture, called meconium, will form the contents of his first bowel movement. At the end of this week, your baby will be considered full-term. (Full-term is 37 to 42 weeks; babies born before 37 weeks are pre-term and those born after 42 are post-term.) Most likely he's in a head-down position. But if he isn't, your practitioner may suggest scheduling an "external cephalic version," which is a fancy way of saying she'll try to coax your baby into a head-down position by manipulating him from the outside of your belly.
**We know Baby Duggan is head down and in position, and as far as him being about 6 lbs. this week...that is definitely true and he may even be a few more than that! We should know more tomorrow!**
