Two contractions and then...Nothing!

Last night we experienced some wild weather here in Vermont! We were under a tornado watch and severe thunderstorm warning most of the day until 1 a.m. Although no tornadoes ever touched down that I know of, the thunderstorms were intense and very scary!

All evening, I was feeling some crazy pressure and pains that I hadn't felt before. The pain started in my lower back and then it moved to my belly until I had a dull ache everywhere. Then at 9:22 p.m. I had what I believe to be a strong contraction. It made me shriek and hurt for a few seconds. I thought, "Sweet, it's happening and we're 30 minutes from the hospital and under a tornado watch, of course this would happen now" but then I didn't get another contraction until 10:02 and then...nothing. They simply went away, the pain stopped and I felt somewhat normal again. Ugh this is so frustrating! I've been looking online and it seems that I had "false labor pains" and these can continue for the next 5 weeks. Or, I may have indeed had two contractions and they just stopped. Either way, I am very aware of every movement, pain and feeling of pressure these days. We have the ultrasound a week from today, so unless anything happens, I just have to wait and see.

While my "contractions" seemed to be a false alarm, the storms did bring some fury to the area and we now have some minor damage to clean up. This willow in the backyard came down, and was probably struck by lightening. Kevin is excited to get at it with the chainsaw and have a big fire!We had a lot of debris and tree limbs down so Kevin picked up what he could while Lily looked for sticks to chew on.
In the front yard, a few big branches from the oak fell down but luckily nothing landed on the house, the cars, or the barn!

Here are a few pictures from the paper today...

Many people are still without power or had trees fall on their house, so Kevin and I are very lucky indeed! Tonight we have our last child birth class, yay. I have enjoyed learning so much, but I'm over spending 2 1/2 hours each week reviewing labor coping techniques!

Here is the 35 week update, enjoy!

How your baby's growing:
Your baby doesn't have much room to maneuver now that he's over 18 inches long and tips the scales at 5 1/4 pounds. Because it's so snug in your womb, he isn't likely to be doing somersaults anymore, but the number of times he kicks should remain about the same. His kidneys are fully developed now, and his liver can process some waste products. Most of his basic physical development is now complete — he'll spend the next few weeks putting on weight.
