Kickball season has begun!

Today I am exhausted and ready for the 3-day weekend! Last night was the season opener of the Kickball league Kevin and I participate in. The league started three years ago and consisted of a small group of my enthusiastic co-workers. Today it has exploded into a city wide league with 11 teams and over 200 people participating! Obviously I am not playing this year but I am just as excited and Kevin's biggest fan. The main purpose of Kickball is to have FUN and the rules everybody receives before the season opener made me laugh. In the first paragraph it states:

EVERYONE must respect and obey all rules and regulations pertaining to the field used for play during all KIDS games. Alcohol use is expected on the field unless expressly prohibited by a certified physician or a higher moral calling. Participants breaking field rules may be ejected from the game and will be given a refund check with the memo line stating, “I’m a douche-bag!”

Season 1 was coined SSKS – Super Secret Kickball Society
Season 2 developed into KTB – Kick the Ball
Season 3 has blossomed into KIDS – Kickball in da Summer

The season is 15 weeks long and games are played every Thursday night in Oakledge Park
located on the shores of Lake Champlain.

The park has 5 huge fields and after each game a party ensues as the BBQ gets underway in the pavilion. The team that has the week off is in charge of grilling and setting up food as well as reffing the games and keeping track of the bases, balls and the score. Last night Kevin's team won their game 15-6, yippee! Of course as soon as I settled into my chair on the sidelines the skies got dark and it began to rain. Luckily I had an umbrella, but Lily and I still got soaked. The cool thing about the rain was the huge rainbow that formed. Check it out...

I needed a wide angle lens to capture the entire thing, it was so beautiful!! The rain was a damper, but the games go on and I still hung out to watch the victory. I even hung at the after party until 9:30! Finally, I had reached my limit of watching people get drunk so I dragged Kevin away and we got home a little after 10. We had a great time and I told Kevin to take full advantage of having a sober driver for the next 7 weeks;) Here are a few more pics I took of the pre-game announcements and mandatory beer chugging that occurs before each game!

I love Kickball Thursdays and I plan on attending as long as I can before this baby comes. Once he arrives, we'll probably still go and it will be my weekly outing. There are tons of kids and dogs and it's just a really fun night for everyone!

We have no big plans for this Memorial Day Weekend and I'm glad. We plan on relaxing, getting some work done around the house and just sleeping as much as possible before Baby Duggan shows up. Here are a few bump pictures that Kevin took this morning!

As you can see this baby belly is getting BIG!

**UPDATE**
My friend Greg just sent me this lovely photo of me at the Kickball BBQ last night. The beer is NON-alcoholic, FYI!!! I only had one and it was delicious!
