The never ending blood test is over!

Wow, what an exhausting morning! I went for my 3-hour glucose blood test this morning and I am so glad that it's over now. I had to fast starting last night at 7, so I arrived at the hospital at 8:30 this morning hungry and thirsty. They immediately took my blood to get a base level and then I had to drink a huge bottle of nasty orange glucose juice in 5 minutes or less. Once that was out of the way the waiting game began. I had to sit tight for 3+ hours, no walking around allowed, and I would be called in each hour on the hour for another blood draw. It doesn't sound too bad, but I am deathly afraid of needles and a fainter so it was pretty horrific for me. As the time ticked by, I was getting hungrier and more light headed and near the end I almost fainted just from standing up. Luckily I had the nicest phlebotomist ever and it didn't hurt that he was pretty good looking as well;)

Kevin had to go to work, but it was really sweet that he came and sat with me for the last 45 minutes for the last blood draw and he brought me lunch! Having him hold my hand kept me from passing out. Now it's all over and I should get my results back tomorrow, hopefully I passed! Unfortunately for me, they could not find a decent vein on my left arm that would give them any blood so all the pricks happened in my right arm and I am so sore! No yoga for me tonight, I don't think I could hold myself up with this tired arm.

I'll keep you posted on the results, but for now here is the 28 week baby update. I'm almost 29 weeks, it seems to be going by so quickly! Enjoy...

How your baby's growing:

By this week, your baby weighs two and a quarter pounds and measures 14.8 inches from the top of his head to his heels. He can blink his eyes, which now sport lashes. This movement is more of a reflexive blink than a deliberate opening and closing, but it won't be long before he's batting those beauties at you. With his eyesight developing, he may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. He's also developing billions of neurons in his brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.
