The cold has caught me!

Today I am not feeling so great. I have a sore throat, a terrible cough accompanied by chest pains, and I am just generally under the weather. I did go to the Dr. on the advice of my OBGYN and I have the beginnings of bronchitis and am wheezing a lot. I was given an inhaler and told to take Robitussin and Tylenol as needed, but unfortunately there is nothing they can really do to make me feel better, I just have to "ride it out." Booooo! I hate when Doctor's say that! It's not as if I was feeling amazing before I got sick either. I was exhausted all the time, swollen and bloated and carrying around an extra 20 lbs. So now I really feel lousy! Oh well, there has been a vicious cold and flu going around my office and I managed to successfully avoid it for a few weeks but it finally caught up with me. I'm still at work today trying to tough it out but I'm feeling worse as the day progresses so I have a feeling I may be resigned to stay in bed tomorrow.

The good news is that Baby Duggan is unaffected and doing fine! The baby doesn't know the difference right now and in fact he is kicking up a storm. Last night Kevin felt a kick for the first time, it was very exciting. Ha ha, I love that cartoon! The kick Kevin felt was very light, but they are getting stronger for sure. I notice after I eat lunch or dinner the baby starts kicking and punching me quite aggressively for a few minutes. He also seems to like to kick when I have meetings at work or conference calls. Without fail, every meeting I have he likes to throw out a few huge kicks in the middle which makes it hard to concentrate! Maybe he's telling me he doesn't like meetings, but then who really does?!

I'm officially 3 days into my 23rd week, so I'll leave you with this weeks update.
Enjoy!

How your baby's growing: Your baby is more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound. He may be able to feel your movements now, so put on some tunes and dance around the house. No matter what race your baby is, he looks red now due to blood vessels showing through his transparent skin. His skin is red and wrinkled. His true skin tone will develop over the course of his first year. Blood vessels in your baby's lungs are developing to prepare him for breathing, but complete lung development will take many more months. The lungs are the last organ to fully develop. He can swallow, but he normally won't pass his first stool (called meconium) until after birth. Loud noises heard often in utero — such as your dog barking or the roar of a vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze your baby when he hears them outside the womb.
