A Case of the Mondays...

Happy Monday! I don't really have a case of the Mondays, but I did have such a great weekend, it was extra hard to get in the mode for work today. Kevin and I had a wonderful weekend together starting Friday night. After work he indulged me and took me to yet another fabric store because I am on a seemingly endless quest to find the perfect fabric to re-upholster the wing back chair in our living room. My need to "nest" is coming on strong and manifesting itself in little projects throughout the house, not just the baby's room. I did find two fabrics I like so we are trying out swatches for a few days. Kevin is probably rolling his eyes extra hard right now as he thinks I am kind of crazy, but I can't stop fixing up things in the house to get ready for baby! Never in my life have I wanted to organize drawers and closets so badly.

After searching for fabric we went to our friend's house to pick up their Golden Retriever Josie. We are dog sitting Josie while her owners are vacationing in Belize. Nice huh?! We had fun with the dogs this weekend and they were so good we rewarded them each with a bone. We laid out a blanket and let them go to town on their bones, it was a funny sight
Of course the dog's were more interested in what the other one had so halfway through their chomping they switched bones, it was very cute!

On Saturday I had a pre-natal massage in the morning which was glorious! We have a wellness studio near our house and they offer great deals on massages and body work. Luckily for me, one of the owners specializes in pre-natal massage and also infant massage. I have been having some pains in my hips and lower back from sleeping on my side and she worked them right out. I felt like a million bucks afterwards, and it continued as Kevin and I attended a pre-natal yoga workshop in Burlington that afternoon. My yoga instructor who is pregnant herself lead the workshop and Kevin and I really learned a lot of great stretches and poses for coping with early labor.
The bonus for me was that the instructor taught the husbands some massage techniques which was awesome!
It was very interesting that out of the 25 couples at the workshop, maybe half are not finding out the sex of their baby, the other half are ALL having boys and only one couple is having a girl! Lots of boys are being born in the next few months in Vermont. We had a great time and afterwards mingled with lots of other couples our age who are expecting, so it was a worthwhile few hours for sure!

Saturday night we cooked a delicious meal and rented "Into the Wild." Wow, if you have not seen this movie I highly recommend it. "Into the Wild" is the 2007 Golden Globe-winning, Academy Award-nominated film based on the 1996 non-fiction book of the same name by Jon Krakauer about the adventures of Christopher McCandless. It was directed by Sean Penn, who also wrote the screenplay, and it was a powerful masterpiece! Of course I am highly emotional right now anyway, but the film moved me. It made me angry and sad, but more than that, a whole range of emotions. Any film that can make you feel like that is brilliant in my opinion, go out and rent this movie, it is beautifully directed and shot and will not disappoint.

Yesterday we had a leisurely morning and Kevin cooked a yummy breakfast. Afterwards we tackled the baby's room. While we still have some finishing touches and things to get, the room is coming together and looks wonderful! Check out a few pics of Baby Duggan's nursery taking shape...

As you can see Lily was very curious as to what we were doing. She definitely knows something is happening, and she wants to be a part of it. She laid in the middle of the room and watched intently as we put the crib and chair together, at one point she even moved over to lay on top of the directions, it was very cute. Lily is a wonderful dog and I know she will be great with the baby but the initial introduction and first few weeks of having a "real baby" in the house will be very interesting!

Anyway, Kevin did an excellent job of putting everything together and the room is coming together beautifully, we love it!
