15 Weeks and Counting...

I am well into my 15th week of pregnancy and don't get me wrong because I cannot wait to be a mother, but whoever said being pregnant was the best time of their life obviously did not have one before they got pregnant. The heartburn is RIDICULOUS. I only have to think about food and I get heartburn. I've tried to change the foods I eat naively thinking that would alleviate some of the indigestion, but it seems every food on earth is a culprit. If you own stock in Glaxo Smith Kline you may see a sharp increase as I continue to buy Tums in bulk. A big shout out to whoever decided to make Tums in those yummy tropical fruit flavors! Great idea.

Hmm, I'll spare you any other details but I think this captures it nicely...

Seriously though, I've been very fortunate and I am feeling
great most of the time! Anytime I get cranky or I start feeling as if I
could be this woman's twin, I get on babycenter.com and read about how
the baby is progressing this week. It truly is fascinating!

So, here it is the 15 week update, enjoy!

How the baby's growing:
Your growing baby now measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces (about the size of an apple). He or She is busy moving amniotic fluid through her nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in the lungs begin to develop. The legs are growing longer than the arms now, and he/she can move all their joints and limbs. Although his/her eyelids are still fused shut, the baby can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, the baby is likely to move away from the beam. There's not much for your baby to taste at this point, but he/she is forming taste buds. Finally, if you have an ultrasound this week, you may be able to find out whether your baby's a boy or a girl! (Don't be too disappointed if it remains a mystery, though. Nailing down your baby's sex depends on the clarity of the picture and on your baby's position. He or she may be modestly curled up or turned in such a way as to "hide the goods.")

We are finding out if the baby has any "goods" on February 18th!!! Although after reading this I want to call and move up my appointment...I have never been one to wait patiently!

Check out what the baby looks like now!

It's kind of amazing that the baby is only 4 inches yet my stomach is getting so big. I'm a little unnerved but the Dr. assures me it's totally normal and all women grow at different rates. That hasn't stopped people from asking me if I'm having twins, it has happened twice now. Just FYI, the next person that asks me that may receive bodily injury...just saying!
