It's a beautiful Tuesday morning in Vermont and while I'm excited to have the day to do nothing except enjoy the gorgeous weather, I would much rather be in the hospital giving birth to a baby boy!
At my Doctor's appointment last night I saw a different Dr. who I really liked even though she didn't tell me what I wanted to hear. I am still only dilated 1 cm, so no progress there, although my cervix is thinning out and is now about 75% effaced when it was only 50% last week.
Unfortunately, my blood pressure has spiked and they are concerned I could go "pre-clamptic." Preeclmapsia is narrowing of the blood vessels, and can be very dangerous to me and the baby so they want me to lie low, no more walks or running up and down stairs trying to jostle this baby loose. I also have to go back tomorrow to check my blood pressure and urine again and to do a non-stress test on the baby. If my blood pressure has not dropped or if it goes up any more, they may induce me as soon as tomorrow or Thursday. If it goes back to normal, they want to wait until Monday if possible. As much as I want to meet this baby and I am so uncomfortable, the doctor did a good job of explaining the induction process and basically if they induce me and my cervix is not ready, the chances of me having a c-section are very high, especially since I have a big baby. I'd really rather not have a c-section but who knows what will happen. I go back tomorrow at 2:30 so I'll keep you posted!
Hopefully my water will break today, I'll go into labor naturally and all will be right in the world...
