On Friday, Kevin and his partner won their golf tournament. He got a cash $ prize, nice job honey!
He was playing with a group of guys from his company and Burton, and apparently he "smoked the competition!" Friday night was our usual low key evening of staying in and relaxing, but we rented "No Country for Old Men" which was an amazing film, packed with action! I actually was wide awake at midnight still watching it as Kevin snored beside me, ha ha.

Saturday was quite a day indeed....
It started with the big news that our friends Meredith and Jody are engaged!
The happy couple, pictured here at our wedding, has finally made it official and Kevin and I are so excited for them both. They are two very special people who are great friends to us and they make an amazing couple, I couldn't be happier to see them engaged to be married! As if that wasn't excitement enough, we received the news on the drive to what I thought was just a casual get together between myself and my friends from work Heather and Robin. They are both very into gardening and they know I am too so we had decided to get together to tour Heather's gardens and then take a trip to her local nursery. I was looking forward to it and though I should have seen the signs...
I had no idea that it was all a trick to get me to a surprise baby shower!!!WOW, I have never in my life been surprised like that. My guard is definitely down and I have the pregnancy foggy brain happening because I am normally very alert and the few times in my life where people have tried to surprise me I have ALWAYS found out. I should have known that it was odd that Kevin wanted to drive me out to Heather's house so he could play golf at a nearby course but then he completely forgot to put his golf shoes in the car and would not have even thought about them or his clubs had I not mentioned it! But no, I have other things on my mind, like this giant baby inside me, so I am just completely oblivious these days!
Anyway, it was such a lovely surprise, and I was so touched by every one's kindness and generosity, that they would plan this for me meant so much and made me very emotional! We had a great brunch with delicious food on Heather's truly gorgeous property overlooking Lake Champlain. Even though I was embarrassed at first b/c I had worn yoga pants and crocs and NO makeup (hey I thought we were gardening!), but it was such a great group that none of that mattered and I had a blast. Of course I have no pictures, because even though Kevin did bring the camera, I had taken the memory card out the night before and forgotten to put it back in. Uh oh. Yeah that pregnancy brain again. Our friend Greg did take some pics, so if I can get those from him I’ll post them.
Thank you to my wonderful friends for the amazing present of a full day at the Stoweflake Spa.

I am going to save it until after this baby arrives and I hit a wall and start to loose it. After some sleepless nights and hundreds of poopy diapers I’m going to escape to the spa, get some amazing treatments and enjoy every second of it!

Yesterday we had another hot, muggy day so Kevin and I started it out right by taking Lily and Josie who we are dog sitting, for a swim at the Waterbury Reservoir.

Last night Kevin and I did some gardening when the heat cooled a little bit, but it was still so hot that the house was about 80 degrees when we went to bed. Thank goodness for the air conditioner in our bedroom. We seriously may have to get another for the downstairs soon, because being 9 months pregnant and sweltering is NOT fun! Plus it doesn't help my ankles...let's just say they are so big I may be going barefoot by the end of the week;) I threatened my co-workers that pretty soon I'll be out of clothes that fit so be prepared for me to come to work in my PJ's and bare feet. Ha ha, hopefully this baby will come before it gets to that!
We have another big week planned, tonight we are taking an infant care class where we'll learn how to care for our new baby. I have no idea what to expect, the class is 2.5 hours long so we better leave as experts in child care! Wednesday we have our last childbirth class and Thursday is of course Kickball! This week we plan to pack for the hospital since we didn't quite finish that over the weekend and Kevin is making some play lists on the i-pod for my labor. Something tells me that during labor the only thing I'll want to hear is the baby crying as it comes out of me, but it's sweet that he's making some mixes anyway!
Have a great week and I'll have more belly shots and the 35 week update coming soon.
