A Medium to Large Baby!

Kevin and I just got back from our Dr.'s appointment where we met with the last Dr. from our group, Dr. Young. We LOVED him! He is personable, has a great sense of humor, seems relaxed and laid back and he explains everything in great detail which Kevin loves. I hope he is on call when I go into labor. Speaking of labor...the Dr. said to be ready in 2 weeks, just in case, because he thinks I will go early. Woot! Woot! I hope so, I really, really hope so. Of course I told him that since he said that with my luck I'll probably be late, and he said "either that or I'm totally wrong and you'll have twins." Now that is NOT funny.

Baby Duggan is in position, his head is pushing against my pelvis and he is almost out of room. The Dr. said we will be having a Medium to Large baby. We are seeing him again the Wednesday after next when I will be 36 1/2 weeks and he will do a final measure of the baby on the ultrasound so we know what we're dealing with. Kevin asked if cesarean is an option (um, thanks honey!) but Dr. Young said "unless this baby is breaking records and over 10 lbs, we're going to give it the old college try." I can't wait!

As far as my swollen feet go, they are totally out of control today and on a scale of 1-5 the Dr. said I am at a 4. The swelling has moved into my legs as well and I have tree trunk stubs. I have gained 6.2 lbs in the last 2 weeks and he thinks almost all of that is water. He said my hands are super swollen as is my face, but they tested my urine and no protein is present, and my blood pressure is still excellent so this is not anything to worry about, just good, old-fashioned pregnancy swell. Sweet!

Kevin and I have our birth class tonight, and we're looking forward to learning about the pain management options out there. I talked a little bit with the Dr. today about not wanting an epidural and he said maybe I will want to re-consider since this baby will be big. I'm going to explore my options tonight and hopefully make some decisions so I can write my "birth wishes" to bring to the hospital.

Have a great Wednesday, the week is halfway over, yay!
