Happy Monday! Kevin and I had a lovely weekend but it went by much too fast as it always does. Check out this beautiful owl that has been hanging out around our house.
Saturday the snow was not nearly as bad as predicted so we went ahead with our plans to go to Burlington and shop for a stroller and a car seat. We left Kids Town after 3 hours feeling exhausted, defeated and a little scared. Who knew you needed more than one car seat as the baby grows, or that some people have 3 or even 4 strollers for different purposes? I could see the $ signs forming in Kevin's brain as his eyes glazed over. I got a serious chuckle as he tried to work a car seat and had there actually been a baby in it...well lets just say it may have been ejected by the sheer force he used to attach it to base. We both need a lesson or two on how to work those things! I think we settled on a stroller but we agreed to shop around a little more on our upcoming trip to New Jersey and Connecticut.
Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day and Kevin went snowboarding while I ran a few errands. I discovered an amazing kids store in Montpelier called Zutano. It's owned by a couple who lived in NY City, had a baby and were not pleased with the boring pink or blue clothing options so they started their own clothing line and moved to VT. This was over 15 years ago and now they are a local business with amazing kids clothes. Check it out www.zutano.com I couldn't resist the great colors and I got Baby Duggan these adorable overalls
with a red and white stripe top to go underneath, it is so cute! I'm going to keep an eye on their sales because I want to get this ridiculously cute outfit as well
How can you resist that? I promised Kevin no more spending so I have to be good, but even he was impressed by the quality of the clothes and the great colors and patterns.Last night Kevin made cheeseburgers with some locally raised organic, grass fed beef I got at the local co-op.
If you've never had true grass fed beef you are missing out! The flavor is amazing and there is virtually no fat at all on the meat. Ours was lean and delicious and raised a mere 20 miles from us in Cabot, VT. We are lucky here in Vermont to have many local farmers who understand good, healthy food and grow organic vegetables and free range chickens, grass fed beef, etc. It's easier here than in most places to eat locally and make healthy, delicious choices. That's one thing I do love about Vermont, the food is amazing! Kevin prepared some mac 'n cheese to go with our burgers, here he is cheffing it up
Yum Yum!
We have our next Dr.'s visit tomorrow morning with our new Dr. and we're excited to meet her! To make a super long story short, I fired our mid-wife after she made a careless and irresponsible error and called me with false positive test results which gave me a terrible scare. After some discussion and near hysterics from me, she realized what had happened and assured me the baby was fine and everything was OK that she had just read the results wrong. That wasn't the first mistake she had made and Kevin and I decided that even though mistakes do happen, we needed to feel totally comfortable with the person who will deliver our child so we made the decision to switch. So...tomorrow we will have another check up and I'll report back with the results on how Baby Duggan is growing!
