Headed up Route 2 out of our village on the way to day care. It is snowing lightly at this point, but the roads are fine, no big deal...

3 miles down the road the snow is picking up and the roads are beginning to look a little scary

The snow is starting to stick and is really beautiful

Kevin has to brake suddenly for the accident that just happened. This is the first of 5 accidents we passed
It always amazes me how many accidents happen on the first real snow day. It's like everyone forgot how to drive or maybe they just haven't gotten their snow tires on yet like we did!
The smooth operator
We arrive safely at daycare and they have lots of snow there! Daycare is located 15 miles from our house and the difference in the snowfall is considerate.

After we dropped Aidan inside we were getting in our car and we watched an emergency response truck skid out on the ice and hit the fence of the daycare, narrowly avoiding taking out the entire playground or worse crashing into the building. It was wild! We got back on the road and soon realized why...it was a sheet of black ice! This car got stuck

Ice Ice Baby

So as you can imagine we CRAWLED along on the ice until we got to the highway. We got on and drove another 5 miles and what do you know...The roads were clear and the sky was clear and you would NEVER know what kind of snow squalls we just drove through.

So it just goes to show that you can live 25 miles down the highway and be in the middle of a snow storm and call your boss to let them know you'll be late only to be met with a confused "what?" when you tell them you got caught in the snow storm because in Burlington the skies are clear and the weather is great!
