Happy Due Date to me!

Hopefully this picture of me on our way to dinner last night will be the last pregnant shot of me. Irregardless, I think it will have to be the last time I wear this shirt...it's about at capacity!

Well, today's the day, Sunday 7/13, my due date. I've already accepted I'm going to have this baby late, but how late remains to be seen. It's funny how a month ago I was so sure I'd have this baby early and here we are. I should have figured my son would be like me and not be on time no matter what the Doctor's said!

Kevin and I got up early this morning and intended to go for a long walk to get things moving but it just started to rain hard so now Kevin's back asleep and I'm wondering if I run up and down the stairs for as long as I can will it help this baby come out? I'll let you know...

We had a great night out last night with our friends John and Lindsay and John's sister Tracy. We were going to go out for a last "romantic" dinner and then they called and invited us out and we decided that would be more fun, and it was! Before the e-mails start, no that is not my beer in the pic above...I had vodka. ha ha, Just Joking!

We had lots of laughs and it was exactly what I needed to take my mind of this waiting game. Thanks for a great night guys!
We also discovered something very funny last night as Lindsay was convincing me to drink a big bottle of castor oil today to get things moving. Kevin has been so adamantly against me trying the old wives tail of drinking castor oil and we discovered it is because he thought it meant to actually drink motor oil...I am REALLY not sure how he got motor oil from an oil used as a natural laxative and/or food additive, but we all had a side splitting laugh at his expense. I guess the name confusion just had him thinking I would be drinking motor oil out of severe desperation to get this baby out. Ummm, let me set your mind at ease, NO, I would never do that honey.

On the other hand, Lindsay has me pretty convinced the castor oil may work and when I googled it I found some strong support like this website where it says:

Why does a castor oil induction work?

Castor oil stimulates the bowels in the same way an enema would. For some unexplained reason, when the bowel is stimulated to empty in this way, the uterus is also stimulated to empty. A study in Alternative Therapies, January 2000, reported that 57.7% of the mothers given castor oil began labor in the specified time period while only 4.3% of the mothers not given castor oil went into labor.

Hmmm, "Alternative Therapies" is probably not the most reputable source, but if this baby does not come in a few days I'll let you know if the castor oil works!!!

For now, I hope your Sunday is less rainy than ours and I hope my next post is a picture of our baby. We're getting excited for my Dad to arrive this afternoon and if you feel the need to call and ask me if the baby has arrived yet...don't. ;)

Love,
Angela
