This is a dead ringer for the moose we saw!Anyway, the reason we were driving home so late is because we had our first child birth class last night. The jury is still out on how much I enjoyed the class. I can't say I learned anything new yet, I guess I have been reading so much already that nothing was new to me last night. I am kind of bummed as well because we seem to have a lame group of people in our class. There were so many stupid questions, I have to wonder if some of these people have even read one thing about pregnancy and child birth! Maybe Kevin and I are too eager since we seem to have read every book out there, and talked to all our friends and family about what to expect, but some of the questions had me rolling my eyes thinking "Seriously? Your wife is 7 1/2 months pregnant and you still don't know what's going on with her body?" I guess it just proves that Kevin is the best husband ever, because he was definitely the most knowledgeable guy in the class, and the best looking. Ha ha!!!
I'm still excited to go back to the class next week though, I am not naive enough to think that I know everything, I have lots to learn and I do think the class will be helpful and worthwhile, it just started out slow. I also didn't feel great last night, so maybe that's why it wasn't the experience I had expected. Baby Duggan kicked me hard ALL day and I was exhausted from it. However, I'm staying positive and looking forward to next Wednesday for sure!
Tonight is yoga night but I am debating whether or not to skip it and go home and garden while I can still get down and dirty. It is 74 degrees and beautifully sunny right now, so being outside is very enticing!
I'll leave you with the 30 week baby update, enjoy!
Your pregnancy: 30 weeks
How your baby's growing:Your baby's about 15.7 inches long now, and he weighs almost 3 pounds (like a head of cabbage). A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds him, but that volume will decrease as he gets bigger and takes up more room in your uterus. His eyesight continues to develop, though it's not very keen; even after he's born, he'll keep his eyes closed for a good part of the day. When he does open them, he'll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision — which means he can only make out objects a few inches from his face. (Normal adult vision is 20/20.)
How your life's changing: You may be feeling a little tired these days, especially if you're having trouble sleeping. You might also feel clumsier than normal, which is perfectly understandable. Not only are you heavier, but the concentration of weight in your pregnant belly causes a shift in your center of gravity. Plus, thanks to hormonal changes, your ligaments are more lax, so your joints are looser, which may also contribute to your balance being a bit off. Also, this relaxation of your ligaments can actually cause your feet to spread permanently, so you may have to invest in some new shoes in a bigger size.
I included this portion because it's happened to me, I can now only fit into three pairs of shoes, my sneakers and flip flops!!!
