24 weeks down, 16 to go!

Well I'm feeling great today, I have lots of energy and am fully back to normal and past that nasty cold/flu that knocked me down last week. I have been sleeping really well lately and feeling wonderful so I have yet to really get into any of the late-pregnancy aches and pains, but I know they're coming. I know they are coming because my dear friend Mary is 34 weeks pregnant and she tells me what's coming!Doesn't she look great? She is all belly! Mary is having a little girl, due on May 11th and I can't wait to meet her. Unlike me, Mary's face has not ballooned out and her arms still look like arms and not bat wings, so I say she's doing well! She tells me what to expect as do the 10 or so girls in my yoga class who are all about 34, 35 or 36 weeks. The main complaint is back pain, followed by restless nights with little sleep because nobody can get comfortable. Oh boy, I can't wait. For now, I am going to really enjoy this phase of feeling good and keep telling myself how good I feel! Who knows, maybe 10 weeks from now I'll be leaving voice mails like the one I got from Mary last night..."Angela, I honestly don't know how I am going to make it another 6 weeks, I am SO BIG!" Ha ha, hang in there Mary, you're only gonna get bigger girl! he he he, you can rub it in for me in 10 weeks when you are at home with your newborn and I am freaking out.

I have got to get an updated "bump watch" photo up on the blog. Hopefully Kevin and I can remember tonight! Last night we got pre-occupied with running errands after work. We were in search of yoga mats for the couple's yoga workshop we are doing this weekend. More on that later. Anyway, we didn't get home and eat dinner until almost 9 so we totally forgot. Tonight we are hitting the gym and should be home at a reasonable hour so I'll bust out the camera.

That's all I've got so enjoy this 24 week baby update. Baby Duggan is gaining weight and getting big these days!

Your pregnancy: 24 weeks
Your baby's growing steadily, gaining about a quarter of a pound since last week. Since he's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), that makes for a pretty lean figure, but his body's filling out proportionally. Your baby's brain is growing rapidly, and his taste buds may be working now. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" and cells that produce surfactant, a substance that helps the air sacs inflate easily. Your baby can hear more now, and you may even notice him startle at loud, sudden noises. But he's probably getting used to the regular noises he hears around the house, such as your dog barking or the roar of a vacuum cleaner.

How your life's changing:
The top of your uterus is now an inch or so above your belly button, which means it's about the size of a soccer ball. With the skin on your abdomen stretching, you may feel a little itchy now and then.

A SOCCER BALL! Wow, that's not small. Also, I am itching like crazy but I am applying lotion like a possessed person in the vain hope of avoiding the dreaded stretch marks!
